Reading in a Technological Era

Reading has to be fun and magical so it can be truly enjoyed. It has the capacity of lifting us and taking us to places where, perhaps, we will never be. Reading, furthermore, is timeless. It has the same effect today than it had 500 years ago. All we have to do is just find the ways and means to set our imaginaiton free with the new options that our technological era offers.

Today´s world brings up amazing options to continue practicing this noble and wonderful activity. For instance, Amazon, the online store, has come up with a reading device called "Kindle" which allows users to directly download e-books from different web sites to the reading device itself. With this tiny and light device, you can almost do all things you do with a normal book. You can underline words, look them up in dictionary, share them with other "Kindle" users and even write notes at the sides. Other important aspect is that the "Kindle" backs up each one of your downloaded copies so you do not have to worry about an accidental deletion of any your e-books. A plus, additionally, is the price of each e-book for usually it is cheaper than normal paper books.

More options include the famous "tablets" which are on the rise nowadays. The "tablets" offer reading options just as those of the "Kindle."

Google, on the other hand, also has the option of "Google Books" which lets the internet user to look for books and keep them in an on line library where the user can read them any time he or she feels like.

These are just some of the options out there in the cyber space that are waiting for you. All you need to do is go and find them. The reward will be priceless!

The Act of Reading, The Act of Creating.

When it comes to reading, many people react in a negative way. Why? Well, maybe some of them have been exposed to experiences throughout their lives that have negatively affected them when confronting a text.

Some of these experiences can be traced back to their school days; some others, to their high school, college or university days. What is important here, my friends, is that the act of reading is not anything else but the act of writing and so, it is an act of creation and of production. Consequently, it does not have to be seen as something boring or something with no fun or life at all.

When reading, our imagination is activated and our whole life background participates in a new act of creation. It is in this precise moment that the reader plays the role of god by giving birth to his or her own charaters, settings, and situations which no one else is going to create.

Let us find the ways to enjoy the sacred act of reading. Let us find the roads through which our imagination can move on. Let us create our own worlds... let us start enjoying the act of reading.
